ABSTRACT
The aim of this article is to study the relationship between manager`s authority and
organizational silence of employees in department of transportation and terminals of Khorasan Razavi.
This is a descriptive and correlation analysis and it is based on structural equation modeling. The method
of sampling is random sampling and the data were collected by standard questionnaire including the
questionnaire for power sites and managers by Tahosseiny based on French & Rion model (1959) with 25
questions, and a self made questionnaire of organizational silence of employees based on Wendine and
partners model with 27 items. Statistical society of this research includes all government employees,
contract staff and contract workers that their total number were 165 people at the year of 1392, from this
number 91 people were chosen to determine the sample size. To confirm external and content validity
certified teachers and other expert`s comments were used and the result verified questionnaire. For the
last verification Chronbach`s alpha coefficients were used which is calculated 0/856 for types of
manager`s power sources, and 0/882 for types of organizational silence of employees. Collected data by
Layzerel software was analyzed. Results showed that between power based on coercion and submissive
silence, power based on coercion and defensive silence, reward-based power and submissive silence,
reward based power and defensive silence, expert power and submissive silence, referent power and
submissive silence, and referent power and altruistic silence, there is a positive and significant correlation.
Also at the end in order to rank the relevance of each type on manager`s power sources with varieties of
organizational silence of employees, multiple regression were used. The results confirmed a positive
correlation between manager`s power sources and organizational silence.
